due diligence:

Journals are due August 26th. That's Friday. In them you'll have your song connections (three threesomes) and the timeline from the year you were born through 2005. Remember, it's one event of note for each year. You'll have your 6 Degrees associations and your 20 Degree Timeline, as well as your essay.

Many of you may want to take advantage of the following extra credit. We've spent a lot of time conjuring up the past. You've gained a new expertise in the events of the 20th century. And you probably didn't have to work that hard to get there, thanks to the internet. (What did we do without it?) The fifties were known as the Atomic Age, the sixties were the Space Age. We now live in the Information Age. Based on this ease of access to information, define and explain the following terms. As I mentioned, this extra credit can be used to bring you quiz grades up to an A. Here's the list:

Wetware; Klaatu Barada Nikto; Kilroy Was Here; The Blue Room and Area 51; Club 33; The Humming Black Hole; Cabaret Voltaire; Elysium; Ookla the Mok; Optimus Prime; 2nd Light; Quincunx; a Fibonacci Number; why is Punch called Punch?; Aoxomoxoa; Oikology; Xanthopsia; kakistocracy; the All-Seeing Eye; Mr.Blik.

Make sure you include the important aspects of each reference. For instance, if you were looking up U2, you'd have to include both the rock group and the spyplane to receive credit.
