11th Graders: Rocky and Bullwinkle fans will know the WABAC Machine, Peabody and Sherman's time traveling invention, pictured here (get it - Way Back?). Mr. Peabody (that's the dog) and his boy, Sherman, would set the dials and be off to visit famous events and people in time. We don't have access to the new WABAC machine here at UHS, so we'll have to rely on the internet for our next journal assignment. Your job is to select famous or even infamous people from the following times and write up a short biography of each Choose one person from the:

1500's, 1600's, 1700's, 1800's, 1900 - 1940, 1941 - 1950, 1951 - 1960, 1961 - 1970, 1971 - 1980, 1981 - 1990, 1991 - 2000, 2000 - 2005, one person from the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper Album cover (click on the link on the right, Sgt. Pepper Map), one person of your choice, one person of your best friend's choice. That's 15 altogether. Here's a website that's a great place to start.

In your journals I'll expect you to write a short piece on each of the 15 people. Not dry, boring things like birthdates and who their mothers were, but interesting commentary on the person's life, what they're known for and how they may have changed our world. Feel free to include pictures, lyrics, poems, whatever it takes to bring your writing to life. Treat this like a magazine piece. What fun. This is not due on Friday.
